Public Service Leadership Changes Announced

Deputy Minister to the Premier Cam Swan today announced changes to senior leadership of the Saskatchewan Public Service.

Effective immediately, Kent Campbell has been appointed President and CEO of Crown Investments Corporation.  Campbell was most recently the Deputy Minister of Trade and Export Development and previously served as the Deputy Minister in three other Ministries.  In 2017, Campbell also served as the Interim Deputy Minister to the Premier and Cabinet Secretary.

Donna Johnson has been appointed Deputy Minister of Education.  Johnson was most recently Deputy Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety since February 2019.  Johnson previously served as an Assistant Deputy Minister within the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Environment.

Karen Aulie assumes the role of Deputy Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety.  In her thirty-five years with government, Aulie most recently served as Chairperson of the Public Service Commission since 2015.  Prior to that, Aulie served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Programs in the Ministry of Agriculture among other senior executive positions in government.

Raynelle Wilson has been appointed Chairperson of the Public Service Commission. Wilson has served as Assistant Deputy Minister within the Ministry of Finance since 2019.  Wilson held previous roles as Assistant Deputy Minister of Housing and Disability Programs and President and CEO of Saskatchewan Housing Corporation within the Ministry of Social Services.

Jodi Banks has been appointed Acting Deputy Minister of Trade and Export Development.  With 27 years in the public service, Banks was most recently the Assistant Deputy Minister of International, Engagement, Trade and Export Development.

With Tammy Kirkland, Deputy Minister of Social Services recently announcing her retirement, Tracey Smith has been appointed Acting Deputy Minister of Social Services effective November 26, 2020.  Smith has extensive experience having served over thirty years with government, with her most recent role being the Assistant Deputy Minister of Income Assistance within the Ministry of Social Services.

Earlier this week, Kyle Toffan was appointed the Deputy Minister of the SaskBuilds and Procurement.  Toffan previously held the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of SaskBuilds since 2018.

“I want to thank each of these individuals for accepting their new assignments and I am confident they will continue their excellent work in their new roles,” Swan said.  “These individuals have made significant contributions to their files since joining their respective organizations and I look forward to continuing to work with them as part of our senior leadership team.”
