On February 12, 2019 the Saskatchewan RCMP National Security Enforcement Section became aware of statements allegedly made over the telephone to an employee at a Canadian government agency. During the telephone call an adult male threatened he would shoot Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and would blow up the Parliament buildings.  The contents of the call were reported to Nipawin RCMP who began an investigation.

On February 27, 2019 officers from the Nipawin RCMP arrested David Petersen (DOB:  1966-05-27) in Nipawin Saskatchewan.  He is charged with Uttering Threats against the Prime Minister Sec. 264.1(1)(a) and Uttering Threats against Parliament Sec. 264.1(1)(b) under the Criminal Code.

There has been no contact between Petersen and the Prime Minister.

Mr. Petersen’s next court appearance will be Wednesday Mar 6th at Provincial Court in Nipawin Sask.  The Saskatchewan National Security Enforcement Section will continue to investigate this matter.
