Saskatchewan Company Fined For Not Paying Employees

A Saskatchewan company pleaded guilty to eight violations of the The Saskatchewan Employment Act in Saskatoon Provincial Court on October 27, 2020.

The company, 101110516 Saskatchewan Ltd. operating as JonesE Property Maintenance was fined $9,800 for failing to pay wages within 14 days of termination of employment.

All eight violations occurred between July 2019 and October 2019.

The company was fined $875 plus a $350 surcharge on each count, totalling $9,800. The employees have now been paid the full amount owed them.

The Employment Standards Division at Labour Relations and Workplace Safety recovered almost $1.7 million in unpaid wages in 2019-20 for 1,479 employees.
