Vaccine Arrives for LPL in Wakaw

Lakeview Pioneer Lodge is happy to report that yesterday January 15th, all the staff who qualified as being in the Priority 1 group determined by the Ministry of Health, received the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer. All the residents were given the option of taking the vaccine and almost all of them present at the Lodge did. “This is a huge step in the right direction,” said Gilles LeBlanc Board Chair of the Lodge.

Starting on Sunday, the residents who were transferred to hospitals in Melfort and Nipawin will begin returning to the Lodge. This will continue over the upcoming week as the paperwork and necessary procedures to accept them back into the Lodge at a time when the outbreak is still declared as active by the SHA, is more rigorous than it would regularly be. The six residents are doing very well and are eager to return to their home here at Lakeview Pioneer Lodge.

Even more good news is the return of more staff, including Administrator and CEO Michael Lummerding. Michael has been helping with the workload from home all this past week and is now cleared to return to work. The Board and administration continue to look forward to the day they can report that everything is back to normal.
