It is with a heavy heart that the family of Lucille Emma Reynaud (née Thibault) announce her peaceful passing on the morning of November 8, 2023, at the age of 80. Lucille was born on November 25, 1942, and grew up on a farm east of Wakaw where she attended Cranberry school and then attended the Convent at St. Louis. After attending Teacher’s College in Saskatoon, she taught for a year at Northern Lights School. In 1962 Lucille and Rene married and in 2023, they celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. Lucille would have called herself a wife and a mother, but that would have been an understatement. She was also a dedicated educator, musician and family archivist. She was a very resourceful seamstress, a wonderful baker and a gardener extraordinaire. Always learning, creating and teaching.
Lucille and Rene had 4 children, Mary (deceased), Karen and her children Eric and Jacqueline; Cheryl (Earl) and their 2 children Matthew (Nichole) and their sons Mason and Haidyn, and Jeffrey; and Glen (Kim) and their 6 daughters Jill, Chantel, Maria, Laura, Anika, and Rose. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Mary Reynaud, her parents Arthur and Doris (Lepine) Thibault, her brothers Edward Thibault and Roger Thibault, and her sister Denise Thibault and brother-in-law Wes Turner.
Donations in memory of Lucille can be made to Diabetes Canada. She was an active member of the Saskatchewan Chapter and valued the important role they play in supporting and educating everyone about this common disease. In 2011 she received the Novo Nordisk Half Century award in recognition of 50 years on insulin and the example she set for all other people with Diabetes. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw, SK on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Matthew Nguyen as celebrant. Cremation followed with Interment of the Urn at the Bonne Madone Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
