It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Alexandria (Allie) Diakiw, age 86 years old of Cudworth, Sask. Allie was born on August 17th, 1933, the youngest of 6 children to Nick and Sophie Hryciw. She lived and was raised on the family farm outside of Vonda SK. At the age of 16 she had completed her Grade 12 and moved to Saskatoon to attend Business College. Once she obtained her secretarial diploma the following year, she moved back to Vonda and worked at a general store there for a couple of years and moved onto a job at a bank in Vonda. At the age of 18, she met the love of her life, Gordon, and they were married a year later in 1953. Allie and Gordon made their first home in La Martin SK in 1953, then moved to Alvena, SK in 1959, where Gordon taught at both schools. In 1963, they moved to Cudworth, SK, where Allie lived until her final days. Allie and Gordon were blessed with four children and instilled the love of family, sports and culture in them. While raising a family, Allie also worked as the Cudworth School secretary as well as the typing teacher for many years until she retired. Allie was very devoted and involved in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cudworth for nearly 50 years, being actively involved in the women’s organization as well as various other activities in the church. Allie always had a great passion for sport, which she instilled in her children. Much of her retirement days were spent watching her two favorites, curling and the “Riders”. Her other passion was her yard and garden and took pride in her flowers and manicured yard. After dad passed away in 1989, four years later, mom had the good fortune of meeting a gentleman, Louis Denton. For the next 27 years, they were companions and partners until Lou’s passing earlier this year. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law Kalyna (Ward) Wiebe and their children and grandchildren Tobey (Corey) Jaman – Jocelyn, Haley and Tanner; Corey (Amanda) Wiebe- Griffin and Emerick; her son and daughter-in law Harry (Beverley) Diakiw and their children and grandchildren Jessica (Brett) Gray – Payton and Declan; Alysia (Michael) Kuzma – Lily and Simon; Mark Diakiw (Kas Rea) her son Leslie Diakiw and his children Tyler and Jordan; her son and daughter in law Lennie (Nellie) Diakiw and their daughter and grandchild Kristine (Josh) McCrone – Miles; her sister in law Rose Hryciw; the Denton children as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
