John Anthony Louis Kolla

With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John on February 17th, 2020. John was born on February 12th, 1948 and grew up on a farm outside Cudworth, SK. After his convocation from Mechanical Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan in 1973, he began his career in the oil field. After dating for a few years, he fell in love with Lorette Rudulier and they were married on June 12, 1976. They decided to move back to the farm in Cudworth to raise their family. John’s world revolved around farming and his family. He loved nothing more than the fresh air, growing fields and tinkering in his shop. He was a dedicated Husband, Dad and friend, cultivating many ties within the community. He was an amazing Papa and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandkids. John had a passion for travel and exploring new places, easily making new friends along the way. After Lorette’s passing in 2013, John continued to farm until his retirement in the Spring of 2015. This began the next chapter of his life when he met his partner Carol. They enjoyed their next years travelling, camping and spending more time with their grandchildren. John was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many. John is survived by his partner of 5 years Carol Ryan of Saskatoon, SK, his children and grandchildren: David Kolla of Saskatoon, SK; John (Dana) Kolla of Denver, Co, Luca, Mila, Hudson & Charlotte; Joleen (Nathaniel) Donovan of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Alynn & Lyla; Dillon (Launne) Kolla of Saskatoon, SK, Ruby. He is also survived by other close family members: Laurie (Aurelio) Mizukami of Yokkaichi, Japan, Giovanna & Natalie; Jeanette (Dave) Basler of Saskatoon, SK, Emily & Jenna; Shawna (Eric) ftlineRegnier of Saskatoon, SK, Willow & Breah; Antoinette (Jerry) Johnson of Saskatoon, SK, Wynter. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Bernadine Kolla, Mary (Alex) Banga, Edward (Debra) Kolla, Ray (Val) Kolla, Michael (Carol) Kolla, RoseAnne (Tim) Forster, Francis (Leanne) Kolla. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in law: Paul (Leona) Rudulier, Lucille (Don) Assie, Gerry (Brenda) Rudulier, Leonard Rudulier, Helen (John) Rudulier, Ron (Connie) Rudulier as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. John is predeceased by his wife Lorette Kolla, his parents Michael & Mary Kolla, mother-in-law Aline Rudulier, father-in-law Andre Rudulier, sister-in-law Rita & brother-in-law Larry Michel. The Prayer Service was held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 7:30 pm and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10:30am. Both services were held at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Cudworth, SK., with Rev. Fr. Colin Roy as celebrant. Rite of Committal followed in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations can be made in John’s Memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, 110-1525 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, ON. K1Z 8R9.
