Up-take of First Doses Doubled in the First Week
Saskatchewan has now reached 80 per cent of all eligible residents receiving their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 71 per cent receiving two doses.
The province of Saskatchewan has seen a significant increase in vaccinations since the announcement of the proof of vaccination or negative test requirement to be implemented for all provincial and crown employees and for several establishments, businesses and event venues as of October 1.
- First doses more than doubled in the past week compared to the week before.
- From September 10-16, the province administered 15,358 vaccinations. Of those, 7,052 (46 per cent) were first doses.
- From September 17-23, the province administered 25,958 vaccinations. Of those14,801 (57 per cent) were first doses.
- This is a 69 per cent increase, week-over-week.
Vaccination remains the best protection against COVID-19. Two doses of the two-dose vaccines approved in Canada are required to be fully vaccinated. It takes 14 days after your second dose to receive optimum protection.
The vast majority of residents hospitalized for COVID-19 in Saskatchewan today are unvaccinated.
Even fully vaccinated residents are encouraged to take all preventative measures to break the chain of transmission: masking in indoor public settings, maintaining physical distancing, taking gatherings outdoors, and staying home if you are sick. Layered preventative measures including vaccination are known to be effective in preventing COVID-19 transmission.
Stick it to COVID – Get Your Vaccination
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is holding pop-up and walk-in vaccination clinics throughout the province, targeting under- and unvaccinated communities. With increased demand for vaccination, the SHA is adding vaccination clinics. Watch for details on clinic locations and times listed on the SHA website.

Proof of Vaccination
Saskatchewan residents with a MySaskHealthRecord account can now view their COVID-19 vaccination record in a new format that includes a QR (Quick Response) code. It can be downloaded/saved, printed and viewed on mobile devices. Wallet cards received at the time of vaccination may be considered acceptable proof of vaccination, depending on the Saskatchewan business or venue’s policies.
Note: vaccine lot numbers are not required for any services provided in Saskatchewan. Vaccine lot number information may be required when submitting for federal documentation to support international travel, when the federal proof of vaccination document becomes available. Check with your destination to confirm vaccination requirements for entry. If the lot number is not currently on your vaccine record, please check with your destination to confirm if it is required before following up with eHealth Saskatchewan for inclusion.
