Tony Peter Koenning

The family of Tony Koenning is saddened to announce his passing on March 9, 2020 at the Cudworth Nursing Home. He was born to John and Mary Koenning on May 8, 1930 and raised on a farm in the Dana District. On June 21, 1960 he married Harlinda Blaseg. They resided in Dana for 10 years and then moved to Cudworth where they lived and raised their family of three children, Sandra, Kim and Ron. Dad worked maintenance on the CN Railroad for 35 years. He was mainly stationed in Bruno but in his early years was posted in various places in Saskatchewan. Dad made a lot of good friends during his years working for CN that lasted his lifetime. After retiring at age 55, Dad continued to farm a small amount of land and was forever busy doing something. He would either be at the farm or out in his garage fixing old radios and TVs, building sheds, or tinkering on something while listening to old country tunes. He especially loved listening to the Old Time Dance Party on Saturday nights. Dad also enjoyed playing guitar and singing and dancing with friends and family and going to the casino. We will miss dad but we are comforted to know that he is now united with mom in heaven. Dad is survived by his daughter Sandra (Calvin) Fowler and their daughters, Samantha and Nicole; daughter Kim (James) Hauber and their children Fay (Brent) Stewart, Camryn, Brady & Braxton; Jillian (Jared) Diederichs, Piper; Lee Hauber and Blair Hauber; son Ron (Lee-Ann) LaRoche, Brody, Nathan and Brianna. He is also survived by his siblings, John (Theresa) Koenning, Ben Koenning, Ed (Casey) Koenning, Irene (Herb) Heggs, Agnes Amberson and Kay Slack, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cudworth, on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 10:30 am with Rev. Fr. Colin Roy as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in Tony’s name may be directed to St. Michael’s Haven, Cudworth. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
